Ephemerality is an unofficial SFW fanzine, dedicated to the Genshin Impact ship of Tomo x Kazuha. This zine will not be bound by any themes and may include alternative universes and other forms of canon divergence.

This project was specifically designed to become a zine that would be able to accept applicants and give them the experience of being involved in a zine, regardless of any prior experience.

The zine will be free, with an optional donation where all proceeds will be given to a charity. The choice of charity will be discussed amongst contributors and moderators. After narrowing it down to four (4) specific charities, a Twitter poll will be conducted by the zine's Twitter account to determine the final charity.

Ephemerality will be exclusively digital and in PDF format. The current contributor amounts we will be seeking have been listed below (subject to change).

FAQ

What is a zine?
A zine is an unofficial publication of fan-made content, created by fans for fans. They can either be for-profit or not-for-profit (free, or all proceeds will be donated to charity). Both artists and writers will be creating individual pieces (respectively, illustrations and fanfiction), with the option of collaborating with another if they wish to do so.
In a non-exclusive, open zine, applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis (alternatively known as an 'open admission zine') whereas an exclusive/ closed zine will be judging applicants, with only a selective few being accepted to become contributors.

Ephemerality is an open, free zine, with an optional donation where all proceeds will be given to charity. For more details regarding the charity, please see our About page here.

How will applicants be judged?
Ephemerality was specifically designed to become a zine that would be able to accept applicants and give them the experience of being involved in a zine, regardless of prior experience. As such, there is great leniency in how applicants will be judged.
Moderators will be assessed on their ability to communicate, and evaluate a variety of given scenarios (depending on what role they're applying for), trying to offer the best possible solution in detail. Previous event experience is not required, but preferred.Contributors will not be judged and are instead accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, the only position that will be judged is the cover artist.Please note that previous engagement with any form of discourse (i.e. previously harassing someone, stealing content and claiming it as your own, etc.) may negatively affect your ability to become a part of the zine, even if you applied in the early stages.

Can I apply for more than one contributor position?
Yes, you may. However, you will only be granted one position, in order to allow equal access and opportunities for other applicants.

What are the requirements for contributors?
Writers will be asked to write a piece of SFW fanfiction, adhering to a strict word limit of 500 - 3000 (five-hundred to three-thousand) words.Page and cover artists will be asked to illustrate a digital piece, conforming to a minimum pixel size of 2480 x 1748 (A5) or a maximum of 4960 x 3496 (double page, full-spread). The final illustration should include a background, be fully rendered and coloured, with the exception being a monochromatic art style.Merchandise artists will be asked to create a wide range of digital merchandise, inclusive of emote sets, wallpapers, icons and so on.
What happens if I can't finish my piece on time?
We understand that life happens, so please contact a mod as soon as possible if you believe there is a potential that you may be unable to complete your piece on time. During check-ins, contributors will be offered the opportunity to drop out.

Will contributors and moderators be compensated?
As this is a free zine, contributors and moderators will not be monetarily compensated. Although, they will be receiving a digital copy of the zine, but may still offer a charity donation to their discretion.

Are there any requirements that I should adhere to?
As a moderator, you will be required to be over the age of 18. You should not encourage nor discourage the acceptance of applicants, based off your personal views.As a contributor, all works MUST be your own. An application to collaborate with another must be made beforehand (to the relevant mod) if you wish to do so.All participants should have a working Discord account as that will be our primary means of communication once the creation period begins.

This mod will be primarily involved in assisting artists with their illustrations where required and offering criticisms, only if they are requested to do so.

Writer & Beta Mod
Will be decided upon mod applications if the interest check is deemed successful.

This mod will be primarily involved in assisting writers with their tasks and beta-reading all the fanfiction, providing feedback where appropriate.

Graphic Design & Layout Mod
Will be decided upon mod applications if the interest check is deemed successful.

This mod will be primarily involved in establishing brand image by designing a logo, banners, templates for promotional material, and the final layout of the zine.

Finance & Production Mod
Will be decided upon mod applications if the interest check is deemed successful.

This mod will be primarily involved in dealing with finances, donating it towards the charity and finding a platform that the zine can be published on.
